The problem we all face

When a storm or emergency hits, most teams are flooded with information that’s unclear, scattered, or just not useful.

Here’s what usually happens:
  • Too many messages: email threads, text chains, social media, group calls
  • Too many sources: every department sees only part of the story
  • Too many delays: crews end up waiting while leaders search for the facts
ReadyOps is designed to solve this. It gives vetted, trusted peers a secure, private space to share verified updates and intel that actually help industry responders on the ground.

What makes ReadyOps different

Most tools try to do everything and end up doing nothing well.

When you're dealing with live crew and resource movements during disasters, clarity matters more than volume.

Additionally, knowing what state/local government and other sectors are doing or facing helps avoids duplication, delays, and mistakes.

ReadyOps is:
  • Private: All users are vetted and validated.
  • Trusted voices only: Members include utility operators, emergency managers, vetted contractors
  • Fast delivery: Everything is sent through the SIGNAL app and arrives instantly
  • Cross-sector visibility: Members include electric, fuel, telecom, transportation, medical, retail, finance, state/local emergency managers, transportation and law enforcement, and more
ReadyOps keeps things simple by focusing on just one goal: getting the right information to the right people from trusted people —fast, secure, and from sources you already trust.

Who uses ReadyOps

The people using ReadyOps are not passive observers. They’re the ones who have been  answering the call, moving assets, and managing field teams, logistics, and resources across states and industry sectors.
  • Electric utilities: mutual aid planners, storm leads, resource managers, contractor managers, and logistics professionals.
  • Fuel and pipeline operators: logistics coordinators, dispatchers
  • Telecom and rail: infrastructure restoration teams
  • Medical & Transportation: planners, logistics, freight operations
  • Contractor Networks: restoration, materials movements, staging, debris removal
  • State / local emergency managers: people who issue declarations and waivers, authorize access, activate road restrictions and curfews, and issue situation reports, public guidance, and more
If you're already making the decisions that affect how crews move and respond, you'll be in good company here.

How it works

Most platforms overload you with updates and chatter. ReadyOps delivers only what’s useful—and only from trusted peers.

1. You get immediate updates you can act on

When a major event unfolds, you'll start receiving targeted messages in SIGNAL from other vetted members. These updates include the things that actually help crews move faster:
  • road closures
  • fuel availability
  • declarations & waiver access
  • staging area updates
  • outage conditions
  • And more...

2. Every post is filtered for one purpose: helping crews respond faster and reduce delays

There are no social threads, discussions, or off-topic updates. Every message in the channel is directly tied to something operational—something you can either use, forward, or act on immediately.

You don’t waste time sorting. You just see what matters and move.

What to know about ReadyOps membership

Not everyone gets access. And that's the point. A good network is built on quality, not quantity.
  • Seats are capped to avoid overload
  • All updates are operational only; no off-topic chatter or promotions
  • Every member is added based on their role, not just their organization
Membership is selective so the channel stays fast, focused, and built around professionals who know what’s at stake.

Frequently asked questions

Here are the most common questions utility leaders and contractors ask about ReadyOps. If you don’t see your question here, just reach out to us.

 Who can join?

Membership is invite-only and capped monthly. Seats go to vetted operators, emergency managers, and critical contractors first.

For example, any organization or professional in the electric sector (generation, distribution, or transmission) who needs timely operational updates can join by purchasing seats.

No government users in the ReadyOps channel.

What is ReadyOps and who uses it?

It’s a private SIGNAL-based messaging channel for utilities, contractors, other sector operations professionals, and state/local emergency managers to share secure crisis updates across 42 states.

Will ReadyOps compete with existing electric sector communications mechanisms?

No. ReadyOps will be governed by its users, who will decide what is to be shared within the ReadyOps channel and what is not. ReadyOps is a cross-sector information resource that broadens everyone's situational awareness across multiple sectors and states. ReadyOps will not compete with existing electric sector mechanisms, but only enhance them with information from states and other sectors that are engaged in the same incident(s).

What If We Have Partners Outside of our sector that want to join?

Have them visit www.readyops.org for more information have them send an email to [email protected] for review.

ReadyOps is not open to media and non-perational users.

How is this different from email or text chains?

ReadyOps delivers operational-only alerts in real time, without clutter, chatter, or delays. Crews get just the facts they need.

Purpose-Built for Operations: ReadyOps is built for crisis management, response coordination, and time-sensitive problem-solving. Email/Text chains are for general communication tools not optimized for urgent, multi-party decision-making. Email/text chains tell you what’s happening. ReadyOps helps you actually do something about it—faster, securely, and with the right people in the loop.

Speed & Noise Reduction: ReadyOps cuts through clutter by delivering only vetted, operationally relevant updates in a structured format versus email/text chains where important information is buried in long threads, CCs, and personal side chatter, making it hard to find critical updates.

Cross-Sector Coordination: Email/text chains often are scattered conversations across different chains, that often are not inclusive of key partners or duplicating messages. The ReadyOps will be comprised of primarily electric sector related companies. The other SIGNAL channels (e.g. state liaisons, multi-sector representatives) also have their own channels. Based on agreements, some information can be shared across all channels so that everyone has the same situational awareness on key subjects [e.g. weather impacts, road/bridge/tunnel closures, infrastructure disruptions (water, fuel, wireless, power, etc..), shortages, government alerts/waivers, sitreps, weight and toll station bypass, modified transportation guidance, etc....]

Security & Trust: ReadyOps operates in a FOIA-protected, trusted network with vetted participants. Email/text threads are prone to leaks and mis-sends, and lack of trust since anyone can forward information.

What kind of updates are shared?

ReadyOps is used year-round to support coordination for both planned and unplanned events. Typical incidents include:

• Natural Disasters: Hurricanes, wildfires, floods, tornadoes, winter storms, and extreme heat events.
• Infrastructure Disruptions: Power outages, fuel shortages, water system failures, and communication network disruptions.
• Transportation Impacts: Major road closures, debris blockages, or access issues affecting logistics and supply chains.
• Public Safety Events: Curfews, evacuations, sheltering operations, and hazardous material incidents.
• Special Operations: Planned events such as large-scale exercises, regional mustering, or multi-state mutual assistance coordination.
• Special events: FIFA soccer tournament, concerts, etc...

Over 70 update types are shared with the current SIGNAL framework that will support ReadyOps. Updates increase as more people begin to trust the people and the process behind ReadyOps.

Specifically:
Emergency declarations and waivers, route closures/openings, waivers, fuel shortages, facility status, outage maps, situation reports, facility open/closed status, infrastructure disruptions (water, wireless, fuel/pipeline), port and airport status, curfews, evacuation routes, state agency contacts to resolve operational issues, and more.

 How does it stay secure?

All messages run through the encrypted SIGNAL app and are FOIA-protected under the SISE (Sensitive Information Sharing Environment) legal framework.

How quickly will my team start receiving alerts?

Most teams are live and receiving updates the same day they join. They will not see any posts prior to their joinging the ReadyOps channel.

 Do you provide training?

Yes. Each subscription includes a setup guide, onboarding call, and ongoing support.

 Can we message peers directly?

Yes. ReadyOps supports both broadcast alerts and private peer-to-peer communication per the SIGNAL app's capabilties.

 What events are typically covered?

Storms, hurricanes, wildfires, major outages, curfews, major road closures, and cross-state mutual assistance events, industrial accidents, cyber outages, infrastructure disruption, etc....

 How is pricing determined?

Pricing is per seat, per year. Tiers scale with the number of seats: 1–2 users $1,000/u, 3–4 users $900, 5–9 users $800, 10+ users $750.

If we add more seats later, do earlier licenses change price?

No. Existing seats keep their original price. New seats are billed at the current tier rate.

Can licenses be reassigned if staff changes?

Yes. Each seat can be reassigned once per year.

Can we cancel or get a refund mid-term?

No. Because intel access is immediate, all sales are final. However, unused seats may be reassigned.

How many new users can join each month?

Enrollment is capped at 50 new members per month to keep the channel focused.

When does the subscription term start and end?

Each subscription lasts 12 months from the date of purchase. All additional seats align with the same end date.
